|Salti Hearts Story (Yeni’s journey)
I feel deeply grateful to be able to share the story of the journey that brought me to one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world and, ultimately, to the creation of Salti Hearts.
I guess, in one way or another, everyone follows their dreams, but sometimes the path can lead you in different directions before you reach it. I had the good luck and fortune to be raised by the sea and to spend my childhood connected to the ocean and the many beautiful marine creatures within it. Growing up, I developed a passion not only for surfing, but for yoga and travel as well. Over the years these interests lead me to many different places around the globe, surfing, coaching, inspiring and sharing my enthusiasm, awareness and dedication for a healthy, joyful and grateful surf lifestyle.
I have been a surf coach for over 10 years; meeting, learning from and sharing my experiences with, wonderful people from different corners of this amazing world. These connections with people are what make my days full of joy, adventure, laughter, gratitude and new experiences.
After having the dream of traveling to Indonesia for more than a decade, I decided that before I could leave I needed to free myself from all my material possessions. The first thing I did was to sell my boat and other unnecessary material possession I had back home on Los Roques; you may be asking, “Why a boat?” Well I had no use for a car or a motorbike, I lived in an Archipelago and my way of getting around was to cruise from island to island searching for waves in my little boat – I was both a captain and a sailor, it was truly liberating.
After arriving in beautiful Bali, I felt completely at home, my love for surfing and yoga were a perfect match with the island lifestyle and I knew I was in the right place. For the first eighteen months I travelled around Indonesia, searching for perfect waves, living the dream and falling in love with the culture and the island lifestyle.
So I took a bigger step than I have ever taken in my life and created Salti Hearts, a Surf, Yoga & Fitness Camp for women from around the world, in my tropical island home. So I can say from the deepest part of my heart, that I’m living my dream, I am thankful for this opportunity and I wake up everyday truly grateful for the life I have and the path I have chosen to live with my Salti heart wide open and beating with the rhythm of the tides as I breathe the Salti breeze from the ocean.
|Meet our Salti mascot Bowie
The Salti Hearts mascot Bowie is a mixed Bali dog. He was named after the singer David Bowie, since they both have one blue and one brown eye.
Bowie is a rescue dog, he was found outside a dog shelter in Ubud where they took him in and looked after him. After that three Australian ladies fostered him for a few weeks. They took care of him and brought him to Bungalow Living Café a few times where our friend Giovanna adored Bowie and wanted to find him a good home.
